Our Story It all began in 1988 when Dan started selling summer sausages door to door out of his '74 Dodge Dart. He always began with, "Hi, I'm Dan the Sausageman". People would laugh, he would sell, and Dan the Sausageman was born. It's been over 35 years since he started his route and a lot has changed since then, but our commitment to creating a quality product, and offering great customer assistance has never faltered.

Salami or Summer Sausage? Salami and Summer Sausage are very closely related, but the main difference is salami has an additional percentage of moisture removed during the curing process. This means that while salami is great, summer sausage is more tender when sliced to eat, and more versatile for cooking!

What is Summer Sausage? Dan the Sausageman sausages are 100% beef, naturally smoked, gluten free, contain no msg, and no added nitrates. Before modern refrigeration, meat was cured during the winter months so that it could be consumed during the warmer summer months without spoiling, hence the name "Summer Sausage". Just like the old days our summer sausage is shelf stable, only requiring refrigeration after opening.
